Back in 2007 the sitting Local Staff Committee was successfully attacked under the slogan "Ils ont rien fait".

The attacking union won a majority. In 2010, it is only fair to apply that same test to them.

Take just two minutes of your time to think about the advances they have been able to introduce for the staff in the last three years:

- CDR: it was difficult to imagine a system more de-motivating and less transparent than the previous one, but now we have the worst system ever created for promoting only the "chosen" staff.

- Method: in exchange for signing the "Reform" behind the backs of other unions, this union got the "Method" written into our Statute. Now, this "Method" has been broken.

The adjustments in our salaries are not automatic anymore. Now we are at the mercy of Member States that criminalize European Staff for obscure political reasons.

- Social infrastructures: Do ALL staff have the right to Garderie or Study Centre for their children? The answer remains NO.

There are still priorities for admission and everybody knows that as the resources for Garderie and Study Centre are very limited, there are not enough places for all the children of the European Staff.

Parents with an unemployed partner need to do the same tricks as always: inscribe the partner in a (paid) training course, asking somebody to sign a fake contract for the partner, etc. in order to have access to those privileges.

- Contractual Agents: Has this important part of the staff increased their certitude about the future?

Have they been able to participate in the internal competitions reserved for Temporary Agents and already established Officials?

Have they all got the right to receive a salary higher than the legal minimum for Luxembourg? No and no.

- Luxembourg economic special conditions: bla, bla, bla… but what's the result?

- EDL's and ODL's. There is a part of Staff called "Educatrices de droit Luxembourgoise" and "Ouvriers de Droit Luxembourgoise" that ARE NOT REPRESENTED by the Local Staff Committee.

They've signed a private employment contract with the European Institutions under Luxembourgish legislation.

The Commission hired only those who were willing to accept the clause stating that our Statute will not apply to them, marking them out as second class employees from day one.

The Commission, in order to regularize their situation, has offered some of them a Contractual Agent's FGII contract… with a salary reduction that goes to more than 33%, depending on the details of the case.

The European Parliament offered their staff in this situation a FGIII contract. Shouldn’t the CLP act on cases of clear discrimination like this?

In a recent semi-public tract they proudly introduce their new full-time secretary (Where is the salary coming from?) and present their successes :
1) Organization of a very expensive training for CAST competitions. (Where did the proceeds go?)

2) Stop the movement towards a system of the elections of the Luxembourg Local staff Committee in line with the democratic rule of "ONE PERSON ONE VOTE".

They prefer a system based on "list votes", D'hondt laws of distribution of votes, etc. that make our election system as obscure and negligent as the measures taken by DG HR, the partners of this union.

They also attack another union with a membership fee of 5 Euros per year saying that "What you get is no more that what you pay". Surely they know very well what they speak about.

Should we advise them to include SID in their black list? We have paid-up members from 1 euro per year!

In economy it is very important to compute the balance between cost and results… this balance is extremely negative for that union so worried about finances.

It's not how much money a union scrapes into its coffers, it's what the union does.

There are two reasons for our low dues. One; keeping our treasury modest discourages law suits against us because there would be very little to seize, even if we were to loose the court battle.

Two; there is enough money in the kitty for our elected officials to pay routine expenses without fuss. If they want to do something big, they need to get not only a majority of votes from rank and file, but also sufficient voluntary financial contributions from our membership. That is an extra layer of protection for grass roots democracy.

One day our rivals may dedicate a nice article to SID and its tracts, possibly saying that SID has no experience (false), SID business model is obsolete or inexistent (100% agreement on that), our 1 euro fee goes to kill whales in the middle of the Ocean (…) and many other nice things because THEY CANNOT SPEAK ABOUT THEIR OWN RESULTS FOR STAFF. They have achieved as little as their predecessors, whom they ripped apart.

With all this, SID is doing onto them what they have done onto others. If you positively insist on voting for them, only divine intervention will save our working conditions. If you think that enough is enough just VOTE THE CHANGE. Give a chance to the enthusiastic colleagues that want to defend ALL STAFF's interests.
